Jean Michalland
Jean Michalland received his PhD in organic chemistry from École polytechnique, where he conducted his doctoral research at the Laboratoire de Synthèse Organique (LSO) under the supervision of Pr. Samir Z. Zard. His thesis focused on the development of new synthetic routes to organoboron compounds through xanthate chemistry. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the group of Pr. Matthew J. Gaunt at the University of Cambridge (Department of Chemistry), in collaboration with AstraZeneca, where he worked on metallaphotoredox catalysis and high-throughput experimentation (HTE) for the synthesis of libraries of partially saturated heterocycles. Since May 2025, he has been a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Pr. Jean-François Soulé at Chimie ParisTech (PSL University), where he works on designing catalytic strategies for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients in collaboration with EUROAPI, within the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), Med4Cure framework supported by Bpifrance.
